The RRDP consists of multiple committees whose collaboration is vital to reinvigorating the downtown area. These include the Initiatives Committee, Finance Committee, and Customer Experience Committee. These committees are comprised of our government partners, like the City, County, Rockford Park District, Rockford Housing Authority, Airport Authority, and other agencies such as the Rockford Area Economic Development Council, Chamber of Commerce, Rockford Local Development Corporation, and Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. In addition, we have representatives from developers, retailers, residents, business partners, and community organizations. Our goal is to coordinate efforts across organizations and to provide a process for evaluating and implementing initiatives.
Customer Experience Committee
Customer Experience researches and recommends end-user preferences to the initiatives committee and does marketing and community outreach for the RRDP.
The Finance Committee offers financial assessment, assistance and identification of funding opportunities for potential projects.
The Initiatives Committee evaluates potential initiatives and makes recommendations to the board for implementation. It also works on frameworks like codes & regulations and design that will promote development.
