This week at the City Market kids have the opportunity to sell their own homemade goods for Kids Day at the Market. These kids went through the whole process of filling out an application to be able to set up their own table at the market. Mark Reed & Waddy will be performing acoustic rock and blues during the Market. Angelic Organics Learning Center will be offering a variety of games and demonstrations such as composting worms, guess that herb, seeing honeycombs from their bees and more and will also be giving away free magnets. Rockford Area Illini Club will also be providing activities for kids. River District Association will have members at the gates providing information about their organization and upcoming events such as their monthly mixer at Burpee Museum Riverview Terrace on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Shop the Block on E. State on Friday, September 4 from 3-9 p.m.; Rods on the Rock Car Show at Lombardi Club on Saturday, September 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Groove Walk on Saturday, October 17 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Stop by their booth to learn more about their events, new developments and river activities. Rockford Health System will have a booth this week at the corner of Water and Market Streets providing the public a chance to speak with staff from their Diabetes Services & Nutrition Departments. A certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian will both be on hand to help you learn more about meal planning, label reading, carbohydrate counting and other nutrition topics and will share information about diabetes causes and treatments. Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from May 22 through October 2 along Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets in downtown Rockford. The market runs from 3:30-8:30 p.m. before Labor Day and 3:30-7:30 p.m. after Labor Day. The market includes local growers and vendors who sell natural products, including vegetables, fruit, meat, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods, wine and healthy snacks as well as artisans and vendors with unique offerings and live entertainment by a variety of performers.
